Rehoming

Adopting

The adoption process

Step 1: Request Pre-homecheck Questionnaire.

Step 2: Complete Pre-homecheck Questionnaire.

Step 3: Food Fairies to ask any further questions/request clarification on answers received.

Step 4: Physical Homecheck appointment set-up at mutually convenient time.

Step 5: Homecheck undertaken by a member of the Food Fairies team. Please allow two hours. You will be asked to show two forms of ID - one photo and the other confirming your address.

Step 6: Required house/garden improvements to be undertaken by adopter and signed off by Food Fairies.

Step 7: If a suitable dog is available, you will be invited to a meet and greet. Should you wish to reserve a dog, a non refundable reservation fee of £150 is required. Alternatively you will be added to our waiting list and we’ll get in touch when we have a match.

Step 8: Any home or garden improvements are to be signed off by Food Fairies.

Step 9: A date is set for you to meet your dog. If required we will arrange for the dog to have a half day visit to your home following the meet & greet.

Step 10: An adoption date is set.

Step 11: The balance is £300 is to be paid by the adopter and the Adoption Contract is signed by both parties. One copy is retained by each party. Two identity tags plus a lead and sliplead must be brought along. The initial steps of owning a rescue dog and keeping them safe & happy are reiterated (these are initially discussed during the homecheck).

Step 12: After two weeks, the microchip is transferred to the new owner. The microchip has dual registration with Food Fairies.

The fostering process

Step 3: Food Fairies to ask any further questions or request clarification on answers received.

Step 4: Physical Homecheck appointment set-up at mutually convenient time.

Step 5: Homecheck undertaken by a member of the Food Fairies team. Please allow two hours. You will be asked to show two forms of ID - one photo and the other confirming your address.

Step 6: Required house/garden improvements to be undertaken by adopter and signed off by Food Fairies.

Step 7: If a suitable dog is available, you will be invited to a meet and greet. Alternatively you will be added to our Foster Pawrents List and we’ll get in touch when we have a match.

Step 8: Any home or garden improvements are to be signed off by Food Fairies.

Step 9: A date is set for you to meet the foster dog. If required we will arrange for the dog to have a half day visit to your home following the meet & greet.

Step 10: A date is set for us to deliver the dog to you. It will come with a collar, ID tag containing your details, sliplead, harness, bowls, treats, toys and food.

All veterinary bills are covered by us assuming they are not as a result of neglect by the foster pawrent. Third party insurance is provided too.

Ongoing support is given and we will keep you updated on applications for the dog.
